This tutorial will demonstrate how to creat a simple Kaleidoscope background. |

Before you start - download the image I used to create the background or you may use any image of your own. |

Getting Ready
Open your image
File||Open
Duplicate your image and close the original.we will be working on the duplicate to preserve the original for future use.
Window||Open

Apply Kaleidoscope
Effects||Reflection Effects||Kaleidoscopr
Horizontal, vertical, rotation scale and orbits all at 0, 5 petals, radial suction 31

Choosing the Tile Area
Change to the selection tool, type rectangle, feather=0 antialias not checked
Draw out a rectangular selection over a part of the image that looks interesting. Stay away from the edges. |

Creating the Tile
Convert to seamless pattern

Your finished Image
All that remains is to test the tile by loading it as a pattern
In the style box click arrow A as shown on the image below to show the small pallette, choose the pattern icon (B on image) This will open up the pattern pallette.
locate your tile and click on it to load it as the active pallette (C on image)
Open a new 400 by 400 image and floodfill with your background.
As you can see from the image below this background tiles just fine. Save your small file as a gif ready to use as a background or offer for download from your site. |
