Silver Sorrow
When first we met
Passions flared bright
Coloured us red
With knowledge grew
A joining of spirits
Coloured us purple
Through the years
Cracks appeared
Coloured us blue
Hatred took over
Denying us expression
Coloured us black
Now aware of all we lost
Sweet silver sorrow
Colours us Grey
About The Project
The given topic silver/sorrow struck me instantly as a single phrase silver sorrow, reminiscent of sweet regrets, perhaps for how things were or how things could have been. This made me think about my marriage which has fallen short of what I hoped it would be.
I started by writing the poem, and decided that I wanted an image that would represent these changes. I opened up a scanned image of one of my wedding photo's in paint shop pro and experimented with various filters untill I had the effect I was looking for, The cracked mirror and show aura filters produced an image which whilst retaining some of the form of the original was broken up and overlayed with sweet silver.
Of all the projects I have done so far this is the one which best captures for me the emotions and changes which inspired it.
