About The Project
Thinking of the topic, I thought about how glass breaks easily, and how sometimes things that appeared strong shattered like glass. This made me think of how people assumed I was strong but sometimes I felt that the slightest touch, the slightest shudder in my world and I would shatter like glass. I wanted to portray this in the image.
I used a background that I thought had a sepia tone to it. The figure is one that I had previously pixel drawn with paint brush, airbrush and gaussian blur. Psp 8 allowes a selection to be turned greyscale without losing the transparent background so I did this then increased the colours back up to 16 million.
I created the glass like effect on the figure with combinations of chrome effect, hot wax effect, negative image and screen blend modes. I duplicated the figure to create 4 copies. To 3 copies I added different settings of the VM Distortion, broken mirror filter.
I created the text on a seperaste layer and applied an inner bevel. Then I merged the text layer to the layer that had not had the broken mirror filter applied. Then I took the entire image into animation shop. I varied the display time for different frames and added a disolve transition effect from the last shattered layer to the layer with text on.
