About The Project
As soon as I saw the colour purple I started to think about crystals and Amethysts in particular. I have a strong personal affinity with the colour purple and Amethyst crystals. In crystal work the Amethyst is often used for spiritual development and working with the third eye chakra.
I resonate with the vibrations of amethyst at all
levels of my being. I often use a piece of amethyst for meditation. Apart from any healing that may take place, the Amethyst is the bringer of intuitive dreams and inspired thoughts. I wanted this project to reflect the experience of meditating with Amethyst and the phrase "purple dreams" came into my head and guided this work.
Unusually the image came before the poem, I had intended to place a dream picture inside an amethyst crystal, but as I played with photo's of my daughter the image took on it's own life and the crystal ended up embedded in her forehead in the position of the third eye chakra. I took about half a dozen photo's of my daughter and this one just captured the dream expression I was after.
Once the image was finished the poem seemed to write itself and captures for me exactly how I feel when meditating with my favourite piece of Amethyst.
