About The Project
The set topic cherry/bubbles made me think instantly of cherry drops, one of my favourite sweets. I find the taste of cherry drops is associated with the few happy childhood memories I have, like the scent of baking bread it stirs memories. I decided therefore to try and capture these cherry memories.
I have never tried to depict bubbles or glass effects before so I went scouring the web for paint shop pro tutorials. I decided to make bubbles etc as seperate images then drop them in to the final picture
I decided to go very literal and try to make cherry shaped bubles, well that didn't work very well, so I made some cherry coloured bubbles then decided to try for some glass shapes of cherries.
The Background for the main picture was created by applying a gradient made from 5 cherry shades, then I used a flood filter, playing with it untill I got a ripple Because I wanted memories to be dropping into the pond of conscious awareness creating ripples. When I got one nice ripple I applied the flood and copied and pasted it into 3 other places using the soften tool to blend it in to the background.
I then placed my memories into the bubbles, starting with my wedding day then adding people who have been important to me. They were applied on separate layers and the opacity reduced to fade them to echoes.
Once the image was finished I played around with the ideas that cherry/bubble had evoked untill they arranged themselves into the Cherry Bubbles Poem.
