There was only one way to penetrate the wall
she had built around herself,
To take a knife and slash away.
To tear deeply through the layers
of unfeeling numbness,
To let the blood and tears of self loathing
and disgust flow free at last,
And with freedom flow away.
Untill awakened by the pain,
The butterfly of her soul
struggled free from its cocoon,
And took flight on
wings of spirit.
